KB Article #8720
A growing trend among body shops is the use of third-party applications to convert the repair estimate created for the insurance company/vehicle owner into a parts order list containing all, or an unrealistically high percentage of, non-OE parts.
This results in OEMs paying unnecessary dealer reimbursements while body shops double their OE-parts profit. In response, OEMs have requested that CollisionLink add Disqualification Logic to their Parts Marketing Programs to identify extremely high non-OE part orders and disqualify those parts from the programs.
These OEMs ask dealers to work with their body shops and request that they provide realistic parts orders with the proper mix of non-OE and OE parts, based on how the insurance company's estimate was prepared.
