Patented Parts Notification in CollisionLink

KB Article #2930

Original equipment collision parts are designed, engineered, and tested by OEMs to meet the precise needs of their vehicles. As the aftermarket collision industry attempts to compete with generic parts at discounted prices, OEMs have begun to apply and obtain patents on some collision parts to assure customers of the best long term solution for repairs. Currently, Ford and GM have patented or patent-pending parts in CollisionLink.

Parts with patents or patents pending will display an alert icon in the following sections of the CollisionLink Order Details window:

  • Part lines in the Upsell Parts section will display a notification if the OE part has a patent or patent pending.
