KB Article #2218
You can quickly create, edit, replace, or remove parts on MarketplaceDirect lists uploaded to eBay Motors or modify the automated rule criteria for a list (you cannot add rules to manually created lists). Note: Parts can be added to multiple lists. However, they will display on eBay with the lowest price input of all the lists.
The sections in this article provide more detail about each task:
IMPORTANT:
- Changes to the listings take 24 hours to take effect as OEC uploads new data once per day, Tuesday through Saturday (Sundays and Mondays are excluded).
- eBay Account Users: Any changes to MarketplaceDirect listings using your eBay account will be overridden the following day (next data upload) because Marketplace Direct refreshes all your listings daily to keep your quantity and pricing current. If you want changes to be permanent, you must make the change within Marketplace Direct.
Creating a MarketplaceDirect Parts List
Dealers can quickly create a MarketplaceDirect parts list that will be uploaded to eBay Motors or set up MarketplaceDirect to automatically post parts from your inventory to eBay based on specific criteria.
There are two ways to create your list:
Important: Changes to the listings will take 24 hours to take effect as OEC uploads new data once per day Tuesday through Saturday (Sundays and Mondays are excluded).
Tip: Parts should not be added to multiple lists. If a part is added to more than one list, eBay will post the part with the lowest price. (Up to 39 lists can be created for each OEM you support.)
Here are some recommendations when creating your initial parts list:
- When creating rules for an automated list, the data must be in the inventory file you submit to OEC in order to include/exclude that option (Source Code, Bin).
- Start with 100-200 items until you become familiar with the Order Workflow and the time required to pack and ship your items.
- Since the list price tends to be more consistent across the board, you may want to consider a List (-) formula. (For example: List - 20%)
- We do not recommend that you list parts that are less than $20, because transaction fees and shipping costs could deplete your margins.
- Parts with "Core Charges" can be listed using MarketplaceDirect. (Click here for more information.)
Creating an Automated List
Once established, automated parts lists will automatically post parts from your inventory to your eBay store based on the rules you specify.
Important: Changes to the listings will take 24 hours to take effect as OEC uploads new data once per day Tuesday through Saturday (Sundays and Mondays are excluded).
To create an automated parts list:
- From the MarketplaceDirect tab, click MarketplaceDirect Setup.
- Click the I want to drop-down and then select Create Parts List.
- Select the OEM from the second drop-down.
- Click OK.
- Select Automated from the List Type drop-down.
- Type a new List Name in the field provided.
- Create your pricing Formula by changing the type (Cost or List), operation (Minus or Plus), or the rate. If either of the drop-downs are left as the default (--) an error message will display. Note: Cost Minus or Cost Plus should not be used for Fiat, Mitsubishi, and Porsche parts as cost pricing is not available.
- Fill in the Shipping Details section with the appropriate Business Policy IDs (12-digit number) from your eBay Account Settings to configure the Shipping, Payments and Returns details on the listings to be created from this Parts List.
-
If your eBay Business Policies are not yet configured, please refer to the article Setting Up eBay Business Policies for Marketplace Direct for step-by-step instructions.
- Note: The Shipping Cost field will be removed soon. It should be set to Free and ignored, since eBay no longer uses this setting. All shipping cost configurations must be done in Shipping Policies within your eBay account.
-
If your eBay Business Policies are not yet configured, please refer to the article Setting Up eBay Business Policies for Marketplace Direct for step-by-step instructions.
- Under the Add a Rule section, select your criteria from the Include parts with drop-down. Rule options include:
- Last Sale Date: Select the number of months that have passed since the part was last sold. Note: New parts that have no sale date will also be added to your list if this criteria is selected.
- Last Received Date: Select the number of months that have passed since the part was added to your inventory.
- DMS Source: Include or exclude parts based on the DMS source ID. (Use a comma and no space for multiple sources)
- Bin Location: Include or exclude parts based on the Bin value. (Use a comma and no space for multiple sources) Note: Bin Location is currently only available to GM dealers, but will be available to all manufacturers in the near future.
- Average Quantity On Hand: Include parts that you have had at least or no more than a specified amount on hand over the last 30 days.
- Average Sold per Month: Include parts that have sold at least or no more than a specified amount over the last year.
-
Dealer Cost: Include parts that have a dealer cost less than or greater than a specified dollar amount.
Note: Volkswagen dealers cannot use the Source, Last Received Date, or Average Sold Per Month options under the automated list drop-downs since OEC does not receive this data from Volkswagen. You must have an administrator account to create a list.
- MarketplaceDirect allows you exclude parts by DMS Source or Bin Location. If want to add this as an exclusion rule, click the drop-down and select Exclude parts in.
- Once you have selected your rule criteria, click Apply this Rule.
- Repeat steps 10 and 11 for any additional rules you want applied. (Click Delete to remove a rule.)
- Click Save. A confirmation message will display.
- Your parts list will be sent to eBay at approximately noon after your next inventory update to OEC and it will post a few hours later. Once your parts list has been uploaded, eBay will verify your part quantity on hand (based on your DMS inventory upload). Note: Part category information and part diagrams will automatically be added to listings.
