eBay requires the setup of three policies before creating listings for Auto Parts:
- Payment policy
- Return policy
- Shipping policy
These policies will be applied later in Marketplace Direct.

To set up your Payment, Return, and Shipping policies:
- Sign in to your eBay account.
- Open Account Settings.
- Under the Selling section, select Business Policies.
- If this is your first time using Business Policies, click Get started.
- On the Business Policies page, click Create policy.
- Click through the steps below to create each new policy type:

- Select Payment as the policy type.
- Complete the fields:
- Enter a Policy name, such as Payment.
- Leave the Description blank.
- For Payment methods managed by eBay, check “Require immediate payment when buyer uses Buy It Now”.
- All options unchecked in the Allow offline payment section.
- Click Save.
- From the Business Policies page, open the Payment policy you created.
- Copy the 12‑digit Policy ID from the URL and paste the ID into the Description field.
- Click Save.

Note: eBay requires that all new Auto Parts sold include a 30‑day free returns policy. For more information, review the eBay Parts and Accessories Return Policy.
- Select Return as the policy type.
- Complete the fields:
- Enter a Policy name, such as Returns.
- Leave the Description blank.
- In the Domestic returns section:
- Enable Accept returns.
- In the Allowed within drop-down menu, select 30 Days.
- Select Free for buyer, you pay for the Return shipping paid by drop-down menu.
- Select Money back as the Refund method.
- Leave International returns disabled.
- Click Save.
- From the Business Policies page, open the Return policy.
- Copy the 12‑digit Policy ID from the URL and paste the ID into the Description field.
- Click Save.

You can create multiple shipping policies in eBay for MarketPlaceDirect to apply to your parts lists. The steps below walk you through creating a single Free Shipping policy.
Note: Your shipping policies must use flat rates. Shipping policies that use "calculated" rates will cause your listings to fail.
- Select Shipping as the policy type.
- Complete the fields:
- Enter a Policy name, such as Free Shipping.
- Leave the Description blank.
- From the Shipping method drop-down menu, select Standard shipping: Small to medium items.
- In the Domestic shipping section:
- Select Flat: Same cost to all buyers from the Cost type drop-down menu.
- Click + Add primary service.
- In the new window, select your shipping providers, then click Save. Note: You may select up to four providers.
- Check Offer free shipping for each service.
- Disable International shipping.
- Disable Local pickup.
- In the Preferences section:
- Select 2 business days for the Handling time.
- Select all excluded locations:
- Click the Excluded locations dropdown menu.
- When the new window opens, select every checkbox on the list.
- Click Done to continue setting up the policy.
- Click Save.
- From the Business Policies page, open the Free Shipping policy.
- Copy the 12‑digit Policy ID from the URL and paste the ID into the Description field.
- Click Save.
- If needed, you can repeat these steps to create additional shipping policies and customize them to match how you manage parts orders.
