Ordering Parts Using ConsumerLink Basic (Buyer Side)

Note: ConsumerLink buyers that perform keyword searches or use the Frequently Purchased Parts to find for parts may run across illustration links that do not display illustrations. Illustrations may not be available due to the following reasons:

  • The part may belong to a kit. Kits are composed of multiple parts, therefore they are not referenced in illustrations.  
  • The part may be a valueline part (i.e. Motorcraft, ACDelco, or MOPAR). Illustrations only reference the OE parts and not the alternate valueline parts. When a keyword search only returns valueline parts, no illustrations will be available.  
  • The part may not be referenced in an illustration. Although a lot of parts are covered in the ConsumerLink catalog, some parts may not be reference in an illustration, therefore an illustrations will not be available.

In general, if a part is not referenced in an illustration, then no illustration will be available for that part. If a customer cannot order the desired part from the illustration, then the illustration will not be displayed by the solution.

To order parts using ConsumerLink:    

  1. Log into the parts department site.
  2. If you have not previously added the VIN for your vehicle, type it in the provided field and then click Go.
    Select the Year, Make, and Model of your vehicle from the drop-down menus and then click Go.
  3. Click the Browse Parts link that matches the parts type you are looking to buy.
    Use the Browse Frequently Purchased Parts pane to located the part. Click the View Parts link that matches the parts type you are looking to buy. 
  4. Click on the Illustration that matches the part you are looking for.
    If the part you need displays in the Frequently Purchased part list, click on the matching link. Proceed to Step 7.
  5. Use the illustration to locate the number of the part you need. Click Enlarge Illustration to zoom into the illustration.
  6. Once you have identified the correct part number, click the matching part to the right of the illustrations. If a number does not display, the dealership does not have the part in stock.  
  7. The Part Details window will display. Check the Availability column. If Call Dealer displays, contact the dealer before ordering the part.
  8. Verify the Qty Rq.  
  9. Click Add to Cart.  
  10. Once the part has been added, click the X in the upper right-hand corner of the Part Details window to close.  
  11. Repeat steps 4-10 for any additional parts you wish to buy.  
  12. Use your mouse to hover over Your Cart. All parts that you have are planning to purchase will display in the drop-down.
  13. Click the Checkout button to begin the checkout process. Click Remove to delete a part from your cart.  
  14. From the Your Cart window, review the parts listed. Click Remove to delete a part from your cart.
  15. If desired, add a note to the dealer in the field provided.  
  16. If you have a promotion code, type it in the field provided and then click Apply.  
  17. Click Proceed to Checkout to move to the next step.  
  18. Verify your Shipping Details, making any changes if needed.  
  19. If available, select your shipping method:  
    • Pickup at Dealer: Pick the part(s) up from the dealership parts department. (Not available with all dealers)  
    • FedEx Ground / UPS Ground: Ship the parts to your location.  
  20. Click Review Your Order.  
  21. Click the Site Terms and Return Policy link. If you agree with the terms of the site, check the I have read and agree to the Site Terms and Return Policy box.
  22. Click the Select Payment Method drop-down and choose Credit Card or PayPal.
  23. Click Submit Order.  
  24. You will be directed to the PayPal website where you can submit your payment using a Debit/Credit Card or log into your PayPal account to submit your payment.  
  25. To submit a payment by debit or credit card:  
    • Click the Pay with Debit or Credit Card button located below the PayPal login.
    • Click the Pay with a debit or credit card, or PayPal Credit link.
    • PayPal's Debit or Credit Card tab will display. Type your payment information in the provided fields and then click Review and Continue.
    • Review your order information and then click Pay Now to process the payment.  
  26. The order confirmation window will display. If desired, click Print Order to print a copy of the order for your records.  
  27. Buyers will receive an email confirmation for the order, as well as several notifications throughout the order fulfillment process.
