Performing a D2DLink Key Code Lookup: GM U.S.

KB Article #895

Before using Key Code Lookup:

OEC has not received an update on GM U.S. key code information since 2007. Per GM Bulletin 06-0089-051C, use the following steps to get the key code data.

Whenever possible, the key codes should be obtained from the original invoice of the vehicle (kept by the sales dept of the original selling dealer). If obtaining the key code information from the original invoice is not possible, then GM Global Connect KeyCode Look Up system may be used.

  • Only dealership staff approved by the dealership's Partner Security Coordinator are able to access key code information via GM Global Connect.
  • First time users of the Global Connect KeyCode system must complete the online orientation session prior to logging in and retrieving a code.
  • After the first time, user will need to agree to the User Agreement statement upon each use.
  • Users may not access the system from multiple computers at one time.
  • Only one KeyCode request may be submitted at a time.
  • User must enter the customer name, vehicle plate number and its state or province for each request.
  • KeyCode information is displayed for only 60 seconds.
  • Dealerships must maintain a file of all KeyCode transactions and retain the records for at least two years.
  • Key code functionality will be disabled after 90 days of inactivity.

If the GM GlobalConnect KeyCode Look Up system cannot deliver a key code for a valid VIN, dealers should call the GlobalConnect Help Desk at 888-337-1010.

The Key Code Lookup feature provides key-cutting sequences to duplicate keys and key blank information for specific vehicles. If the lookup does not return results for a late-model key code/key blank search, use the look-up method currently used in your dealership.

  1. Click Key Code Lookup from the D2DLink Tools menu.
