KB Article #1532
ConsumerLink Basic allows you to define shipping options for order delivery. Note: ConsumerLink Setup options can only be accessed by the ConsumerLink Administrator. You have two options for shipping:
- Allow customers to pick up ordered parts from your business.
- Ship the item to the customer. If configuring ConsumerLink to work with your existing shipping account, please verify that your account is configured to ship to residential locations before completing these steps.
To provide Customer Pickup as a shipping option:
- From the ConsumerLink tab, click ConsumerLink Setup.
- Click the I want to: drop-down and select Setup Shipping Options.
- Select your OEM from the OEM drop-down.
- Click OK.
- The Pickup/Delivery Options will display. Click the Allow Customer Pickup box.
- Click Save.
To provide the customer with shipment delivery options:
- From the ConsumerLink tab, click ConsumerLink Setup.
- Click the I want to: drop-down and select Setup Shipping Options.
- Select your OEM from the OEM drop-down.
- Click OK.
- The Pickup/Delivery Options will display. Click the Allow Part to be Shipped box. Additional set up options will display once the Allow Part to be Shipped option is selected.
- Select your primary shipping carrier from the Carrier drop-down. The options are FedEx Ground or UPS Ground.
- Type your shipping carrier Account #. (If you are using FedEx Ground as your carrier, type your Meter # in the provided field.)
Notes:- The Account # field is not required. However, entering your account number allows you to take advantage of corporate shipping rates and carrier discounts or promotions if they are applicable to you. If you do not enter your account number, standard shipping rates will apply.
- If your account number is not validated by your primary carrier, an error message will appear. Please check if you have entered your account number correctly.
- If desired, use the Shipping & Handling Uplift % to add an additional shipping percentage to any order that has known weights and dimensions. This allows you to automatically adjust shipping costs to factor in any additional weight for the packaging of the parts order--keeping you from losing money on shipping. Type the desired percentage in the provided field.
- Next, you must set up shipping options for parts without weight or dimensions. While ConsumerLink contains the weights and dimensions for the majority of wearable (or fast-moving) parts, setting this up allows you to fulfill part orders on your storefront even if the part weight or dimensions are not known. Your options are:
- Customer Pickup Only: Using this option means customers can only pickup these orders from your dealership. This option is only available if the Allow Customer Pickup box is checked under Pickup/Delivery Options.
- If you select this option, no additional shipping options will be available. Click Save.
- Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of the ConsumerLink Setup window to close.
- Allow Part to be Shipped: Using this option allows you to ship the order to the customer according to the rules you configure. You have two options to chose from:
- Use shipping formulas to provide customers with shipping costs that can be adjusted. Using this option allows you to adjust the shipping costs during the order fulfillment process. To allow shipping costs to be adjusted:
- Type a minimum shipping value for the rule to apply in the Min. Shipping Value field.
- Type a shipping percentage in the Shipping Cost % field.
- Type a price range (Example: $0.01 - $99.99.) in the Price Range field.
- Click Add Rule to save the rule. The newly added shipping rule will be listed in the Shipping Rules box.
- Repeat these steps for any additional rules you wish to create. (You must create at least one rule.) Note: Review your Shipping Rules carefully to ensure their are no gaps between rules.
- Select the Allow for Shipping Cost to Be Adjusted option.
- Click Save.
- Use shipping formulas to provide customers with fixed shipping costs. These cannot be adjusted during the order fulfillment process. Using this option, you will be able to define a percentage of the order total to be applied as the shipping cost to a certain price range by creating rules (you must create at least one shipping rule). To create fixed shipping costs:
- Type a minimum shipping value for the rule to apply in the Min. Shipping Value field.
- Type a shipping percentage in the Shipping Cost % field.
- Type a price range (Example: $0.01 - $99.99.) in the Price Range field.
- Click Add Rule to save the rule. The newly added shipping rule will be listed in the Shipping Rules box .
- Repeat these steps for any additional rules you wish to create.
- Select the Fixed Shipping Cost option.
- Click Save.
- Important: By setting a Minimum Shipping Value you will thus be able to define a percentage of the order total to be applied as the shipping cost to a certain price range. The final shipping cost will however be the greater number between the Minimum Shipping Value and the Calculated Shipping Charge.
- Use shipping formulas to provide customers with shipping costs that can be adjusted. Using this option allows you to adjust the shipping costs during the order fulfillment process. To allow shipping costs to be adjusted:
- Customer Pickup Only: Using this option means customers can only pickup these orders from your dealership. This option is only available if the Allow Customer Pickup box is checked under Pickup/Delivery Options.
Important:
- If an order has part(s) with known weights and dimensions, FedEx or UPS will be able to calculate an exact shipping cost.
- If an order has any parts without known weights and/or dimensions, then the whole order will be treated as an order with parts without known weight and/or dimensions.
